A lesson in project managing installations at North Yorkshire schools
HCS Mechanical Services has completed plant room installations, and heating projects, at six North Yorkshire schools.
The HCS team completed the work at six schools while students were on holiday, but at Easingwold Secondary School, engineers had the challenge of working during term time.
At all schools except Easingwold, our sister company Clarke’s Environmental carried out environmental cleanses ahead of installations. “Working in partnership with our own asbestos removal company meant that no time was wasted at a time when every hour was critical,” says Ashley Smith, Commercial Director at HCS.
Over six weeks we installed new plant rooms at five schools: Oakridge Community Primary School, Hinderwell; Longman’s Hill Community Primary School, Selby; Barwic Parade Community, Selby; Hipswell Primary School and Caedmon College, Whitby.
At Easingwold Secondary School HCS completed a full gas re-pipe, re-routing pipe work over rooftops. As the work was undertaken during term time, the challenge was to ensure minimum disruption to staff and students.
Commenting on the project at Easingwold, Philip Park, Mechanical & Electrical Surveyor at North Yorkshire County Council said: “Could I just thank you and your team for the professional way in which this project was managed and executed. All the reports I have had from site have been positive and complimented the ‘can do’ attitude that was displayed throughout the project.
I met Mr Phil Benaiges, the Headteacher, yesterday and he was most appreciative of the way in which the work was carried out.”
